Ah! Niagara Falls! Home to the famed Waterfalls Of Niagara! It is, without doubt, a tourism "hot spot" drawing as many as 15 million annual visitors from around the world to be inspired by the awesome power of "the Falls" (Horseshoe & American), view the incredible scenery, enjoy the well manicured parks and beautiful gardens, ride the Maid Of The Mist and, not surprisingly, take-in a "Girly Show"!
Counted among Niagara's most popular visitor attractions/amenities are our Strip Clubs drawing a respectable percentage of those millions of annual visitors. And for good reason, the sight of an attractive young woman, buck-naked and sliding up and down a pole, can be irresistible to many men.

Even I, in my youth, had been tempted by this, one of natures most inspiring sights. I'm not nearly as tempted any longer for a number of reasons not the least of which is that I'm getting older and the realization that my drunken lustful feelings were not reciprocated. They just wanted my money!
I always considered the Strip Clubs something of a local secret that we really didn't want the tourists to know about until I started doing a little research. Apparently the Niagara Falls "Girly Shows" are world famous and do attract visitors to the area ultimately contributing to our economic well-being, so I'm including them in my Blog and in my Visitors Guide.
Many Niagara Falls Strip Clubs are
mentioned prominently in various internet Strip Club Guides and one
in particular, the Sundowner, is ranked among the top 10 in the world
in The Ultimate Strip Club List. Does this make you proud or what?

It was around 1:00pm Saturday, January 17, 2009 and I was driving along Lundy's Lane in Niagara Falls when I noticed how little traffic there was. Usually this is a very busy road on the weekends with out-of-town tourists coming in to enjoy the incredible scenery or have some fun on Clifton Hill. It then occurred to me that traffic on this road has been unusually light for the past 2 years, winter and summer. What's going on?
Well I'll tell you what's going on! The tourism business in Niagara Falls has gone to crap(s)! Pardon the pun!
Everything and I mean EVERYTHING about Niagara Falls now centres around the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort and the big hotels on Fallsview Avenue. Even the traffic flow is directed to the Fallsview hotels area. The City has closed off the intersection of Main & Stanley Ave. to ensure traffic is directed right to the casino. Signs on the QEW highway point to the casino and road signs all over the city direct tourists to the casino. Even the first exit off of the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge (bridge/border-crossing between USA & Canada) has been changed to keep travelers off of River Road. The exit is now at Stanley Avenue which directs tourists right to the casino.
Don't get me wrong, I don't have any issues with the existence of casinos in Niagara Falls nor do I wish to see development stop in the Fallsview hotel area but I can't accept the demise of all the other tourism businesses in Niagara Falls as a result of the focus on "Fallsview".
The whole point of allowing casino gambling in Niagara Falls was to draw tourists to the area which in turn would benefit all the local businesses. The reality is that the casino and the Fallsview hotels have managed to draw all the tourism (apparently with the help of the city) right to their doors, bypassing everything else Niagara Falls has to offer.
The casinos and the big hotel owners have the money and the power to influence the City and they use it to benefit themselves and I don't blame them, that's their job. I blame the City for yielding to their every request. Wake Up!
The "Falls"(Horseshoe Falls and American Falls), the well manicured parks along River Road, the beautiful gardens, the family oriented attractions and all the small businesses that cater to tourists are what has made this city one of the Wonders Of The World. Not gaming!
The time has come to re-think the direction this city has taken and get back to the fundamentals.

This is "one fun stage show", the venue features stand-up comedians. Some will have you rolling in the aisles with laughter, others are completely devoid of talent but it doesn't matter because the audience is as much fun as the performers on stage.
Located in the Casino Niagara complex, you need to be 19 to enter (it's a bar/club). The shows run from 90 minutes to 120 minutes in length. Acts change weekly. Full bar service as well as snack foods are available during the show.
For more information visit the Casino Niagara website.

The Avalon Theatre is the
state-of-the-art performing arts centre at Fallsview Casino Resort.
Built to accommodate just 1,547 guests, the design of the Avalon
Theatre creates an extremely intimate entertainment experience, with
the furthest seats less than 30 metres / 100 feet from the
stage.
The Avalon Theatre was designed to be infinitely
flexible. All 1,000 seats on the floor and mezzanine areas can be
removed or re-arranged, thus allowing various seating plans and
configurations, including banquet style, classroom style, dance floor
and raised runway. The stage can even be converted into additional
seating, creating a four-sided seating plan for events like boxing.
This flexibility makes the Avalon suitable for a variety of events,
including concerts, Broadway-style musicals, dance troupes and
headlining entertainment.
Opened on June 8, 2004, with the
rest of Fallsview Casino Resort, the Avalon was christened with a
pair of shows by Canadian crooner Paul Anka. Since then, many
headline entertainers have played the room, including:

When gambling was first introduced to the Niagara region back in the 1990's it was the general consensus that casinos would be our salvation in tough economic times.
Local manufacturing jobs were disappearing because of "globalization" and the Niagara Falls tourism industry, which never did produce much more that minimum wage jobs, was stagnant. We had to do something to stimulate our local economy and the answer was casinos!
Casinos will bring in a whole new type of tourist. People with money! They will come to gamble but when they arrive they will be so overcome by the incredible beauty of the local parkland and the awe-inspiring site of "the Falls" they will be motivated to: do some sightseeing; eat in the local restaurants; and patronize our shops!
Did it work? Yes and no!
Gamblers are here and spending money. Unfortunately, not much of their money is being spread around. They arrive at the casino/hotel, check-in, hit the slots or the craps table, eat in one of the casino restaurants, check out the view of "the Falls" from the restaurant window, shop in the casino boutiques, drink in one of the many casino bars, go back to their hotel room to relax/recover/sleep then leave the next morning.
YES, casinos are contributing to our local economy because many local businesses contract services to the casino operators and thousands of new jobs have been created. NO, because gamblers never seem to wander too far away from the casinos, the existence of the casinos isn't doing much to help local restaurants, motels, souvenir shops or any local tourist businesses other than the casinos and the hotels that surround them.
Of course casino gambling itself presents another problem to the locals. Most out-of-town visitors come to the Niagara Falls casinos to have a little fun, try their luck at the slots or Black Jack tables and win or lose (most likely lose) head back home and don't think about gambling again until their next vacation. This isn't the case with many of the local residence. When a casino is "just down the street", the temptation is great! Far too many locals have become addicted to gambling and have lost, or are in the process of losing, everything. Savings are gone, families broken apart, jobs lost, lives lost! BE WARNED!
About the Niagara Casinos
There are three casinos in Niagara Falls. Two in Niagara Falls, Ontario and one in Niagara Falls, New York.

Casino Niagara: The oldest and most casual (not too glitzy) is Casino Niagara in Niagara Falls, Ontario. They offer all the usual gaming facilities, slots table games and poker room, as well as a sports book. The amenities include restaurants, an all-you-can-eat buffet (best bang for your buck in Niagara Falls), bars and comedy club. The casino is located in the Clifton Hill area and surrounded by hotels i.e. Sheraton on the Falls, Crowne Plaza Niagara Falls-Fallsview Hotel and the Skyline Inn. Please note that under Province of Ontario Law, smoking is prohibited in the casino as well as restaurants and bars, in fact, the only place you can smoke is outside. The pit bosses can offer players some freebies such as a restaurant voucher for the buffet but NO FREE LIQUOR. You have to pay for your drinks!
Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort: The largest and most "Vegas" like casino (lots of sparkle and glitz) is located in the Fallsview area of Niagara Falls, Ontario. They offer the usual slots and table games with huge poker room and a VIP room for high rollers as well as bars, restaurants, all-you-can-eat-buffet (not to pricey with excellent food choices), a theatre/ballroom featuring first class entertainers and stage shows, boutiques and a patio overlooking "the Falls". The casino is part of a hotel/spa complex and is surrounded by several major hotels on Fallsview Avenue including the Hilton, Oaks, Marriott and Embassy Suites.
Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel: Located in Niagara Falls, New York. I have only been to this casino twice and can't say I know much about it other than it has all the amenities a casino should have i.e. table games and slots. From what I've heard from other people, the buffet is outstanding and the the fact that you can smoke in the casino and drinks (liquor) are free sure is appealing. The following has been extracted from their website ?If you?re looking to get the most out of every visit to the Casino, then you'll love Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel. From the very latest slot machines to your favorite table games to world-class dining and entertainment, Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel is the real deal for real players.?
If you're planning a trip to Niagara to do a little gambling, please take some time to "smell the roses". This is a beautiful area with magnificent scenery, first-class tourist facilities and countless sites of historical importance to both Canadians and Americans dating back to and before the War of 1812.
